How do you drive to Denver and Boulder?
- US-36. NPS lists US-36 from I-25 Exit 217 through Boulder and Lyons as a route to Estes Park: 66 miles, 1.5 to 2 hours.
- CO-66 and US-34. NPS also lists CO-66 from I-25 Exit 243, and US-34 through Big Thompson Canyon from Loveland.
- Trail Ridge Road. Trail Ridge Road closes from mid-October through late May (NPS). It is not a winter route west.
What should I check before buying here?
- Values and counties. Estes Park is in Larimer County (single-family median $590,000, Jan-Aug 2026); Lyons and Allenspark are in Boulder County ($850,000) (Colorado Association of REALTORS).
- Water by address. Town service stops at town limits. Check the DWR well permit file for any well.
